I think to be called scissoring, it needs to be caught between two fingers and go into a twirl. if you catch it full grip into helicopters or something, it's not the same. pretty sure the name comes from the shape your two fingers make when you catch, like a pair of scissors.
not splitting hairs here, but what if you do charlie chaplin rolls after an aerial?
check out the vid str8 jsut posted above this post.look at his fingers at 1:45. the knife should be caught inbetween two fingers like that (or you could use ring/middle finger, or ring/pinky) and the rotation continued. you could go into a chaplin, the scissoring part is all about the finger position in the catch and continuation of the rotation. while we're on the subject of trick names , I've gotta get this one off my chest. The one trick that's just about everyone names wrong is a zen rollover. This must be my biggest pet peeve. When I first bought a bali 2yrs ago (didn't really get into flipping it until last summer) I watched a lot of vids. Zenghost's don't seem to be out there anymore, but I used to like his vids. I could be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure he coined the terms "zen riccochet" and "zen rollover". They involved tricks where the sharp edge of the blade faced your fingers. A zen riccochet would start with a double-out from holding the bite handle, the zen part, is that you don't let it cut you (doesn't technically riccochet from contact with a finger). A zen rollover is the same thing, the sharp edge should face the finger it rolls over, it could be a rollover on any finger ( 8th's bloody mary is a perfect example of a zen rollover), nowadays any thumb-rollover is considered a zen-rollover. The helix, for example, doesn't start with a zenrollover, it's just a thumb rollover. All it takes is one video naming it improperly, especially vids that get as many views as CL's do, and everyone starts using the name improperly. I'm not out to blame anyone, it just happens. I use CLs vids for knife info all the time, if I had not seen zenghosts old vids, I wouldn't know the difference either. I hate to sound like Balian and knit-pick trick names like this, but like I said the zen rollover one is a pet peeve of mine.
