I think to be called scissoring, it needs to be caught between two fingers and go into a twirl. if you catch it full grip into helicopters or something, it's not the same. pretty sure the name comes from the shape your two fingers make when you catch, like a pair of scissors.

not splitting hairs here, but what if you do charlie chaplin rolls after an aerial?

check out the vid str8 jsut posted above this post.look at his fingers at 1:45. the knife should be caught inbetween two fingers like that (or you could use ring/middle finger, or ring/pinky) and the rotation continued. you could go into a chaplin, the scissoring part is all about the finger position in the catch and continuation of the rotation. while we're on the subject of trick names , I've gotta get this one off my chest. The one trick that's just about everyone names wrong is a zen rollover. This must be my biggest pet peeve. When I first bought a bali 2yrs ago (didn't really get into flipping it until last summer) I watched a lot of vids. Zenghost's don't seem to be out there anymore, but I used to like his vids. I could be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure he coined the terms "zen riccochet" and "zen rollover". They involved tricks where the sharp edge of the blade faced your fingers. A zen riccochet would start with a double-out from holding the bite handle, the zen part, is that you don't let it cut you (doesn't technically riccochet from contact with a finger). A zen rollover is the same thing, the sharp edge should face the finger it rolls over, it could be a rollover on any finger ( 8th's bloody mary is a perfect example of a zen rollover), nowadays any thumb-rollover is considered a zen-rollover. The helix, for example, doesn't start with a zenrollover, it's just a thumb rollover. All it takes is one video naming it improperly, especially vids that get as many views as CL's do, and everyone starts using the name improperly. I'm not out to blame anyone, it just happens. I use CLs vids for knife info all the time, if I had not seen zenghosts old vids, I wouldn't know the difference either. I hate to sound like Balian and knit-pick trick names like this, but like I said the zen rollover one is a pet peeve of mine.

Re: Training Sessions

zen rollovers are rollovers where the blunt part of your blade doesnt hit your fingers, if its the sharp edge its a bloody mary roll, atleast thats what I thought

I didnt know that, ah well, all those terms, too complicated

Re: Training Sessions

Spyderguy pretty much summed up everything though. I completely go with him on that one.
But yeah, Slash, it doesn't really matter. It's how you flip that matters :D
Matnotah probably doesn't recognise half of these terms anyway ;)

great advice, if you like how your flipping looks, who gives a shit what it's called. Don't mind my rant, I've been living in sub-zero temp. for the better part of 3 mths now, I get a little testy sometimes. ;)

Re: Training Sessions

You know, that's something that's been bugging me. If you do a y2k that starts with the safe handle and ends with the safe handle, is that a zen y2k? A double y2k? WTF?

Re: Training Sessions

I always referred scissoring as a motion to make the bali twirl.... And I referred what some have mentioned to a aerial that continues with some twirling....

JUST FLIP THE BALI AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!!!

Re: Training Sessions

I didn't want to start a new thread or shit on an on-going one, so I figured my thread was the best place for this. I just want to thank all you guys for the kind words and thoughts in your posts and signatures. It's greatly appreciated. I'm still back and forth to the hospital everyday, so no time for vids, but I do read the forums religiously every night when I get home. I may not have ended up winning the tourney, but I would've spanked all you fuckers in the blade catch challenge ;) :P I'll probably finish the challenges anyways, just for my own benefit. Unfortunately it will be after the winner has been decided, but it gives me a reason to post some vids when I have some time to myself again. Keep 'em sharp, keep 'em flippin, and vote for christ's sake or Loosey will punch your granny in the throat! ( where's the granny punching smiley?)

just read this, this is possible when you do a one and a half y2k, something inbetween a normal and a double

good thing that people are improving this fast, keeps the competition coming

one thing I really want to know, is how the fuck you do two totally different bali tricks at the same time, like blasto or entropy
