i can actually flip and spin pizza dough pretty damn well...they also make fake pizza dough skins to practice with.
the reason you don't have people flipping pizzas that people actually eat is cause it thins out the center and makes for a bad cook thru.
its for show only....and i've seen some sick combos with pizza dough

Actually I thought that was awesome. I would love to see more dynamic
movement like he had with balisongs. Of course with a knife it poses a
much greater risk such as the hand stand. Knife could get lodged in your
neck, which I hear has adverse effects on the body.

But I love how he moved, that is something we need in our flipping routines.

@fke..that's something you probably won't see from me....i was in the pizza game a long long time ago when i was a franchisee.
I've been to the rallys, i've seen what could be done...and i can tell you that dough throwin can get pretty serious. While i wouldn't say that i was great or was in the same level as the guy in the vid...i can say that i could hold my own and do some good combos and basic moves and do more than your average pizza guy. Nowadays, they have team dough manipulation contests with synchronized and choreographed dough flipping.
I can still make a fucking mean pizza....and i could probably still flip it around..but i'm not gonna do that in my house....flour all over my hardwood floors is a no go. and i'm pretty sure a pizza place will not just let me walk in to the slap table and start throwin dough.
and yes, some weirdos may say cornmeal for dough spinning..but flour is the only way to go, as well as properly proofed dough...for spinning, i would only use proofed and about 2 days before expiration for maximum flexibility and stretching without air pockets, tightness or resistance.
and back in my day..i could slap and make a large pepperoni to specifications and put it in the oven at 20 seconds....which was a record back then....even now you'll be hard pressed to find that.
