Knife maintenance question

Hi, I have a BM 51 for a couple weeks now. I want to oil it to keep it at a good state. Where should I apply the oil and what type of oil I should use? And the blade of the knife get a little rusty so how can I fix that?
Thanks

Re: Knife maintenance question

i would suggest militec for your oil, and you just need a drop on each pivot on each side.
if you want to keep that D2 in good shape, oil it occasionally. you can use the militec for that too.

Re: Knife maintenance question

I use ZoomSpout: Highest Quality Turbine Oil to oil my pivots. It works better than anything I've ever used.

Re: Knife maintenance question

might have to polish it a bit, but after that, keep it oiled to prevent further pitting

One last small question, how often should I apply oil on my knife?
Thank you :)

Re: Knife maintenance question

yeah, i use autosol, but others might use something different. basically any kind of metal polish should be fine.
as for oiling, for the pivots i go by feel, and for the blade, just a few times a year if in storage to make sure its still ok. you kind of have to feel it out either way.
