Re: Loctiting Pivot Screws

i used permatex at first..and it sucked..broke loose in a couple days...in my experience...not enugh is better than too much...get loctite and it may take you a couple tries till you find the spot that work best...make sure your screws are clean..and wait the entire 24 hrs..once you break that seal..the whole point of loctiting it is useles. took me a couple times to find the right amount to use to where they sit there tight for over a month now and counting

Re: Loctiting Pivot Screws

I just got a brand new 42, is it necessary to loctite the pivot screws? Or will they loosen up on me and come out on me unexpectedly?

Re: Loctiting Pivot Screws

You may not need to, and on the other hand you might. I wouldn't touch it unless you notice the handles developing some play.

Official Loctite Thread

Ohk so I just ordered a MTech Twist from BladePlay last night. This is my first balisong and I know I will need to loctite it. But when i take the screws out to loctite it, how much should I tighten the pivot screws back? Thanks(:

Re: Adjusting the Pivot Screws

Depends on whether you prefer tight or sloppy.

I normally tighten so the handles don't swing, then loosen off slowly until I find the point where they swing freely. :TU:

Re: Adjusting the Pivot Screws

I recommend tightening it just enough where it still swings freely with the least amount of handle play. If it's too loose the blade might scrape the handles, and as Sonic says, "that's NO GOOD!"

Kimura 2 Question

When I first got my Kimura 2 both handles were extremely tight, so I loosened them up a little with a torx bit and lubed up the pivots. Today I tried to get them back to the original tightness and I was only able to get the safe handle back to being tight, I tried tightening the bite handle but to no avail. I tried tightening the screw as hard as I could and that isn't really working since the bite handle is still really loose like I didn't even tighten it at all. Can anyone help me solve this problem? I did squeeze the handles together to adjust the screws on the pivots.

Re: Kimura 2 Question

I would try taking the screw out, clean it, then try screwing it back in (then back out, put Loctite on it and put it back)

Re: Kimura 2 Question

I tried that, it's exactly what I did. It might have something to do with it but the screw on the bite handle(the loose one) sticks up a tiny bit more than the one on the safe handle. I can't seem it tighten it anymore and get it to go down for some reason
