Re: Kimura 2 Question

What exactly should I put in gasoline? The screw itself? I don't know why but It's easier to flip with one handle really tight and the other one really loose, maybe I'll just leave it like this. Theres no blade play at all on the safe handle which is nice, would like to get the bite handle in the same condition still though so it doesn't have any play

Re: Kimura 2 Question

Problem solved, mcluvns answer mentioned loctite and taylob's answer mentioned soaking it in gasoline. I looked at the screw and there was a build up of loctite near the top so I soaked it in rubbing alcohol for 20 minutes then took a dental pick that they scrape your teeth with and cleaned out the dried loctite near the top and I got it to tighten. All I have to do now is not flip for 24-48 hours with my kimura, let the loctite cure then work in some mineral oil so it moves freely and eliminates all play in my kimura. Thanks for the help dudes :D

Quick Question about Loc-tite

I decided to buy some, so i headed off to Wal-Mart and tried to find some. I wasn't exactly thinking when I bought it, but I bought the kind that looked like it would work. When I noticed that i just got Loc-tite brand super glue. Will this work in my knives? And if so, will any good super glue work as loc-tite?

And since Im here, I might as well ask another question. Would mineral oil work as a good lubricant for my bali's? Just wondering, cause I found some around the house. I just figured it would work.

Re: Quick Question about Loc-tite

I wouldn't use super glue on my knives, unless it was a crappy 20$ one.

I use this loctite that i got from autozone.

Re: Quick Question about Loc-tite

Don't use super glue, use loctite blue threadlocker only.

I have not used mineral oil, but I know some other people do. I believe that Knifezoid uses mineral oil, but I don't remember for sure. Anyway I think you should be fine to use that.

I use 3-in-1 oil that you can get most places. I got mine at my local Home Depot.

Re: Quick Question about Loc-tite

mineral oil will work for emergencies, but its not ideal. gun oil is supposed to work well, but i personally love militec. a small drop goes a long way. best oil i have ever used, especially when applied properly. also, superglue will work. it dries quick, and holds strong, but can be broken when the time comes to re-apply or re-tighten. just dont use much, and make damn sure you dont get any in the pivots. oh, and if you are using blue loctite, make sure you get real loctite, henkel brand. it works best. permatex is garbage. also, make sure you dont put too much on it, or it wont cure. also, make sure you leave it alone for the full 24 hours to cure.

Re: Quick Question about Loc-tite

also, for idiot proof loctite-ing, try the 242 blue paste. also there is a new 249 blue tape that i have been wanting to try. and if you get liquid, go for 242, there is another blue that is high heat or some shit.
