i use red but everyone else says no cause they think it impossible to unscrew but your right blue wasnt strong enough for me either. i dont know about the rest of yall but i dont want my screws coming back out once i have loctited them hence why i loctited them but even the red will work its self loose after about a month of flipping the knife

Make sure you clean all of the gunk from inside the pivot and from the screw before you apply the loctite.

I borrow the missus nail polish remover, which seems to do the trick.

I have only used blue loctite and have found that with heavier Bali's it may only last for a month or so before I need to reapply.

With lighter Bali's like my 51, I have only applied once (10-11 months ago) and my 42 doesn't seem like it's moved since I used the nail polish method about 2-3 weeks ago.

Huh, thanks for the advice. I like to clean mine once every couple months, so I really don't want anything permanent. But I guess it's worth it to keep it from loosening up every 5 minutes!

Hey I bought some loctite, and i'm borrowing a torx screwdriver from a friend. What size are the torx screws on the benchmade 51?

T8 for the pivots and T6 for the body screws
These are the two most common sizes for balisongs as far as I know

Hey guys, I was wondering if putting loctite on the screws of my bali will lessen the value of the knife. I've never used loctite before so I'm not sure what the long term effects will be.

Hello--
yesterday i applied loctite 242 to my bm51, and i carefully followed tutorials on proper application.
however, my knife feels really stiff after waiting 24 hours. am i supposed to continuously flip it until its smooth?
at first, i thought i had the screws on too tight, but they were actually pretty loose.
can anyone help me as to why my knife feels so stiff?

You probably got some between the tang and handle. If that's the case, it should work loose after a while.

Nah man, you gotta take that shit apart again.. clean it up with some acetone or whatever, and re-apply it to the screws only. Only use a little bit, it's all you need.

Make sure you do that over a box or something. The 51 is full of little parts that like to fall where they can never be found.
