Bradley Kimura Spacers & Screws?

So I've been flipping my kimura 7 for quite a while and lost a set of screws and spacers on one handle as well as the latch. I contacted Kershaw (by both phone and email) for parts to discover that they don't carry parts for the kimura anymore. I then called and emailed bradley (at kershaw's recommendation) as well and have yet to receive a reply (in two weeks). Assuming the worst, does anyone know of where I can get replacement spacers and screws for the kimura?

Re: Bradley Kimura Spacers & Screws?

I intend to answer this one of these days, when I remember where the hell I left my calipers...

Anyhow, what I would do is look for 2 new pairs of standoffs (what Kimuras use for 'spacers'). They're pretty generic parts, just with different cosmetic designs. What I would end up with probably wouldn't look exactly like the factory originals, but would look like they belonged there just the same. Knifekits has some that look like they would work fine, but without calipers, I can't say for certain.

Re: Bradley Kimura Spacers & Screws?

Okay, found my calipers.

Spacer screws are 2-56, and .188" long overall, or about .145" thread length.

Latch screw is also 2-56, but .400" long overall, or .360" thread length.

Head diameter on all is about .160".

Standoffs should be threaded for 2-56 (obviously), and are .162" thick. They're also .25" in diameter, but that isn't quite so important.

As for a replacement latch, I popped an old typhoon latch in my K7, and it worked fine.

Sooo... Just looking around knifekits.....
Spacer screws:
http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_i ... ts_id=2155
(a bit long - will probably have to grind them down)

Latch screw:
http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_i ... ts_id=2915
(way long - will need to be cut down to fit)

Standoffs:
http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_i ... cts_id=898
(not as big around, but otherwise fine)

Latch:
http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_i ... ts_id=2390
(I think those are the same as what came with Typhoon Twisters, so should work okay. At $4, worth a shot)

Could hunt around at other suppliers for parts that might fit a little bit better, but those (and a little work) should be enough to get your knife in flipping condition again.

:ugeek: Somewhere or other, I have notebooks with all this crap written down. Pretty much every knife that came through here got stripped down and examined, back when I was doing all that modding.
