Starting a challenge:
If you have someone specific in mind and you want to challenge them, start a thread in the Challenge forum, with a title like this:
"My name vs. That Guy"
If you do not have anyone in specific in mind, instead use a thread title like this:
"My Name vs. Any Takers.
This will open your challenge to the first person who comes along and accepts it, so long as you agree to it.
In the first post of that thread, include the following information:
1: Description of the challenge. Is it a specific trick? Style of trick? Time limit on trick? etc.
2. Time to respond after accepting the challenge - typically one or two weeks.
3: Challenge variations, if any.
Challenge variations:
'Blinds': In a Blind challenge variant, neither user may post a video until both contenders have stated that they have their videos prepared. After which, both contenders must post a link to their video within 24 hours. This prevents either contender from getting a sneak peek at their opponent's submission.
'Experience Limit': Users may only participate in the challenge in they fall within a time range of flipping experience specified by the challenger.
'Free for All': Multiple users can participate, all competing against each other. A contender's place in the resultant poll determines the ladder points they receive, however no one will receive a win/loss in their statistics.
'Newbs': Results will go into the Newbie Ladder. This will keep contenders off the Main Ladder, thus providing for a less intimidating experience.
'Off Ladder': Results will not be entered into and ladder. Appropriate for very silly challenges.
Challenges may combine any of the variations except 'Teams,' Newbs,' and/or 'Off Ladder,' for obvious reasons.
You may also wish to include the variations in the thread title. It isn't necessary, but you'll probably get more appropriate responses if you do.
Accepting a challenge:
Before you accept a challenge:
Read through the challenge thread to make sure no one else has already accepted the challenge (this does not apply to Free for All challenges, but you should read through the thread anyways).
Read the challenge's rules and stipulations, and make sure you understand and agree with them. If you would to see them changed, ask for a change by posting in the thread. In an open challenge, it is up to the challenger to decide. In a direct challenge, it is mostly up to the challenged person to decide. Either way, both parties must agree before the challenge may proceed.
Make sure you have the necessary equipment set up and running in order to complete the challenge. This include the balisong, video camera, internet connection, etc. Also make sure that you have enough free time set aside to complete the challenge.
To accept a challenge:
Post in the challenge thread, stating that you accept.
If the challenge is to be in the ladders, log in to your Clan (it's in the User Control Panel) and issue a challenge to your opponent's clan. He must then accept the clan challenge. Note that this can also be done backwards - he can challenge your clan, and you must accept the clan challenge (also by logging into the Clan in the User Control Panel).
Once you've accepted by posting in the challenge thread, both contenders must create videos within the timeframe specified in the challenge thread.
Once your video is created, you must post a link to it in the challenge thread.
Once all contenders have their videos ready, it's time to start a poll over in the Polls section.
Here's the Polls Guidelines for info on how to do that.
If you accept a challenge, or have your challenge accepted, but fail to follow through with it, you will lose 20 ladder points. Exemptions include broken knives, broken cameras, natural disasters, etc.
