took me about an hour

Re: Customized Twist

Im not sure if i wanted to start anotehr thread about my balisong yet or not and since this thread is about customizing a twist I figured I would add the latest thing i did to mine.

well today I gave in... On the latch there are 4 holes and Ive been thinking about using some type of rod to fill the holes, today I went to the local hardware store to look around and saw some solid brass rods that would work perfect. So I go a rod and had the nice old dude cut off 5 small pieces (since I dont have much of shit for tools yet) a few hours later its all done and looks pretty good(i think)...if you want to see ask and I can post some pics

actually gives me more ideas

Re: Customized Twist

Thats a really interesting idea. It looks really nice. what diameter rod was it and how did you fasten them in place?

@influenza- what diameter pb washers did you use? Seems to me that it wouldn't work quite right with the 3/16'' ones since the pins are 5mm

Re: Customized Twist

thanks
the rod size is 3/32"dia.
at first I was hoping for a press fit but not all of the hole were the right size for that so I used a little gorilla glue to fill the tiny gaps, then filled for a while

Re: Customized Twist

thanks droopdog
im thinking about drilling 5 holes in each handle(inside the 'indents') and doing the samething(4 in the latch and 20 in the handles)

Id like to use the same concept but using mosaic pins on another balisong

I got 5mm's from knifekits. I did however, stupidly order lots of 3/16" ones. No worries though, they're cheap and always good to have extra.

Re: Customized Twist

that's a sweet mod :TU: In my opinion the best modifications are ones that look like they belong there. Yours definitely fits in that category. What I mean is if you didn't know what the knife looked like stock, you'd think that's how it came.

Re: Customized Twist

my twist is completely anodized even the blade. that how it came.

i in my spare time also fly rc helicopters and alot of the parts come anodized, now im not sure if it works the same on the way the knife has be anodized but on heli parts you can coat them in "easy off oven cleaner" and it takes the color right out in minutes leaves a brilliant silver shine. i have not yet tested this on the twist though

i seen on youtube or somewhere this person modded a jaguar to have a spring latch. there has got to be some way to do this with the twist. id like to figure it out as the latch gets on my nerves always swinging around and moving

Re: Customized Twist

Cool mods from everyone :TU:

I would like to try them out, but I'd probably get another twist to do it.
I like having at least one "stock" item. If I can only have one I will leave
it unmodified.
