A little DIY problem...

So im trying to take the screws out of my Mtech to glue them in properly , and I managed to
get one of the screws out. The problem is the second one, both the knut and the bolt are turning
at the same time meaning that I cant loosen or tighten it. Is there any way I can get this out?

Re: A little DIY problem...

Well, from past experience with OTHER screws (Not necessarily with balis), I would say you should hold the bolt in place with a pair of pliers, lightly, as to not mess up the bolt, and then screw out the screw.

Just my two cents, don't know if that helps.

Also, if your loctighting the screws, DON'T USE SUPER GLUE! It messes up the threads. Get a little tube of Loctite 242 Blue. Not red, blue. It's like $5 at Home Depot, last you a lifetime. If you need a tutorial on how to do it, "X4CTO" on Youtube has a decent one up.

Hope this helps,
Casey

hmm Well after visiting my local hardware store, they only had loctite red and wouldnt be able to get blue. Ive heard of people using red for screws on balisongs, would it be a huge difference? What is the difference between red and blue?

Red is MUCH stronger than blue and will be a major pain in the ass to remove the screws if you ever attempted to do so

Re: A little DIY problem...

To be honest I see the knife breaking before I ever want to remove the screws... im ill equipped for modifying these as it is. As for holding it place with pliers, that wont work as its not sticking out the other end. Ive tried everything to generate friction short of jamming the thing with araldite...

Right, I figured that might be the case. I'm going with experience on skateboards, bikes, etc. Bigger bolts. Hopefully, the guys around here can help out, I'm oretty much inexperienced with bali-construction outside of the basics, so they'll probably have a solution for ya.

The flat things are what im trying to put pressure on. The screws are on the other side, ive tried a lot
of things but it just keeps spinning. I cant use a vice or anything because that will cover up the hole on the other side :(

Re: A little DIY problem...

try squeezing the handles tight when in the open position, it might be enough to put pressure on the pivot for you to unscrew the bolt/screw..

Yep! as soon as as I squeezed the handles together it stopped spinning completely! Really handy tip ;)

Re: A little DIY problem...

thats good news, if that didnt work you would have had to bust out the dremel and make a slot in the pivot for a screw driver.
