My BM-51: Unanodized...deanodized...nonanodized?

Hey guys. So my 51 was getting a little dirty, and it was time for a cleaning. I figured while I had it stripped down, I was going to take the blue anodizing off the liners. I know alot of people are not a fan of it. Neither am I. After an hour or so with the dremel and wire wheel attachment, I got her all reassembled, and I think it is defiantly an improvement. The anodizing comes off really easy, with the exception of the pocket clip.

Now, who wants to do bushings on this for me?

I like it man, looks clean. I still like the blue. Lots of people don't, but personally I think
it looks nice. Looks good either way.

i'm also a fan of the blue, the only variation i thought i'd like would be maybe red - but that looks really good!

That really does look a lot better. Why can't benchmade just let us choose the damn colors!

Because benchmade is not in the business of customer satisfaction at the expense of customization. Didn't you know, all benchmade knives are perfected on the drawing board before being foisted on the public? Modifying a Benchmade is messing with perfection, and thus, a mortal sin.

Just ask anyone who bought a 42 NIB for $400 bucks or so...

Awesome. looks great man! I don't have a 51 yet, mainly because I don't like the blue.

I was looking into chemical deanodizing; I found a several bits on the internets about using oven cleaner to remove the oxidization from anodized aluminum.
i.e. ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0pY4mfN ... re=related
But, I haven't found any info on whether or not that works for ti though. :|

Anybody tried any chemical deanodizng on their 51?

I reckon I'll probably get me a 51 soon and either try the oven cleaner or go at it with the dremel.

Well, since most oven cleaners contain lye, which is a very corrosive sbstance, it probbaly should work.

Never have any personal experience with it, but seems legit to me.

It looks nice, but to be honest I still think it looks better in blue.
