DIY Titanium Anodizing Thread!

I thought this might be a cool follow up to GetTheFood11's superb BM-51 de-anodizing thread. I didn't see anything when i searched, so here are some resources I found and studied last night with info on anodizing titanium parts. I am hoping that those of you who are familiar with anodizing could add more/better info. These are just threads on other forums. This information is for educational purposes only and I take no responsibility for any damage that may result from use of the sources herein.

I will be attempting to piece together a guide from these sources and my attempt (actual attempt coming in the next 2 weeks or so). Let me know if you guys would find this useful or interesting.

Really good info in these two threads (including how you actually go about doing this):

http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=103573

This came from the candlepower link. It shows the spectrum of colors you can get and the importance of cleaning the material you are working with.

I have to go work on my law journal citation assignment but I will be doing some research tonight or tomorrow after I get done (but before I get drunk) and editing the OP with more info, so it won't stay this sparse for long. :woot:

Re: DIY Titanium Anodizing Thread!

Here is an Instrucatbles article that is probably better than one I could make!

This person got good results with comet cleanser, but other sources recommend battery acid (sulfuric acid), and you can see the difference in results in the color spectrum image in the OP.

He also does an excellent job of explaining that what you are actually doing is creating an electrolytic solution and coating the material. He is painting it on but with a knife part you would probably be simply dipping it into a container as shown in the other threads.
