First Balisong manufacturing attempt

Hi,

Here's the result of my first attempt in knife making, i tried a balisong.

He could have a better look, but the chances he's finished uglier than that were important for a first try ;)
He flip nice but it's a really heavy one (more than a Kimura for exemple)

If you're interested with the steps of making, there's my thread on France Balisong http://www.francebalisong.com/forum/vie ... f=5&t=2422 (i don't know if linking is allowed ?, if not sorry, delete...)

Re: First Balisong manufacturing attempt

Looks nice. Have you been getting some tips from Cardoso? I see his influence with the rolled pins

Brass spacers makes sense... never even thought of that. For some reason I thought they looked like wood  I'm an idiot.

Re: First Balisong manufacturing attempt

Thanks, You're right Wigum, it's some wood, they shouldn't at the beginning, but by mistake i drill my hole at the spacer diameter i should drill less, so i drill the wood and place the spacer inside.

And yes Cardoso gave me good advices on it ;)

Looks like a great first knife. Keep it up and let us know if you decide to share the love.

Also, I'd be wary of those spacers with wood being prone to warping.

I like the ruggedness of it overall, but the spacers are stupendous.

Re: First Balisong manufacturing attempt

Ohhh ok.

They honestly looked like wood to me, but wishful thinking made me have to ask if they were brass.

Still, pretty awesome looking bali :TU:

Nice! my neighbor and I are working on a bali, I feel it's going to be very unique. So hopefully we can finish it next week and have some pics up. Still very nice work I do like the rough look of it.

Re: First Balisong manufacturing attempt

Very nice. Are you making these to offer to the balisong community in the future?
On the topic of pins, doesn't Terry Guinn use rolled pins in some of his designs?
