Fiend Balisongs...Old v. New

Since quite a few of you are in a passaround for one of these, here's a side-by-side comparison to show you the progress I've made with this model. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rv47infR ... ideo_title

Re: Fiend Balisongs...Old v. New

Hooray for necroposting....

I just got my fiend today (#17) from Nathan himself and I have to say, I cannot put it down. COming from a flipper that learned and practiced on a BM51 for about six months, my first impressions when I first even picked up the package was, "Wow this is heavier than I expected." I always thought I liked lighter knives better but Im definatly wrong now. The "extreme" bulky feel of the FIend is just extremely comfortable for some reason. While flipping and just holding the solid G10 handles felt just grippy enough but yet it was still quite smooth.
My absolute favorite part of this knife however is by far the blade. The bowie is gorgeous and the grind along with the shape just give a rough "hand-made" originality that I was surprised at how much I liked. All in all, I give the knife a solid B+ but with the price at $90, it definatly makes it up to and A- or an A. Thank you again Nathan. :TU:

Re: Fiend Balisongs...Old v. New

Shit haha I thought I said that, its actually very smooth, it took awhile to get used to how it turned around my fingers because its rather blade heavy yet also heavy at the ends of the spacers (almost like the momentum doesn't know where to go). I like it alot for flipping, I'd say its below my 51 but better than my K2 especially for the price. Its harder to do chaplins as I find my fingers sticking to the G10 too much (I dont know if its from perspiration or just the way the G10 is). I seriously do not exagerate when I say this thing is exteremly meaty and bulky but it feels good in the hand. More and more Im liking the fact that its not polished to perfection but rather rough around the edges, I admire that design prowess from Nathan :TU:

Is this just because of your weight preference? I know that some people prefer the Kimmies to 51's just because the 51 doesn't have enough weight for them.
