Hellbent Tutorial

Here it is, as promised. This is my first tut, so bear with me. The trick is a lot harder to explain than what i thought... making tutorials is sort of like pulling teeth. I included a few of the combos that you can do with this trick. Tell me what you think.

cja that was a great tutorial. Every step was explained, and I also like how you showed how it can be worked into other combos. Thanks for sharing! :TU:

Re: Hellbent Tutorial

Nice tuto ! You explained it pretty well dude.

One thing though, I don't wanna sound like a dick, but your hell bent still needs some smoothening.

Re: Hellbent Tutorial

yeah i actually didn't see your hell behind the bend tut until after i uploaded mine (it showed up in the related videos at the end of the video). Great tut by the way. Once i seen it i thought, oh shit i probably should have asked him if he was planning on doing one. Anyway's... yeah sorry if i stepped on your feet and what not. I'm glad you liked.

I recently cleared some space so thats why my background is different. Thinkin about getting a black sheet to put up and film most of my videos there. I like the look of yours a lot. Do you use something special for a light source? I notice that the light shines off your knife and thats what makes it pop on the black background. I also recently got a copy of sony vegas pro 9 from a friend. So if i ever figure that out, my editing should be slightly better.

@str8- yeah your totally right. I'm not really happy with how those 3 attempts at the beginning turned out. Problem is, i barely ever do the trick by itself like that, its almost always in a combo of some sort. There's a definite pause in between steps there. I still need some practice at it for sure................ DICK  J/K

Re: Hellbent Tutorial

don't worry bout any of that stuff as far as steppin on toes..the way i see it, the more resources there are from good flippers, the better. And it's always better to have more than one source for a single trick to get different perspectives on it when learning.

as far as my background goes, i just use a black sheet and tons of light..that's the key. you wanna wash that shit out so that when you go back in and color correct it..it will be pitch black background, but still be bright enough on your knife. I use cheap floodlights from the hardware store for about 10 bucks a piece..2 of those..and then my regular room lights...i use full spectrum bulbs, so i get a white color instead of yellow light.

one thing about black backgrounds is that it does reflect onto your blade...so i'm still messin around with the perfect light angles for it...but you will see in some of my vids is that the blade disappears depending on the angle, that's cause it's reflecting the black...so i usually try to aim a light straight forward..one angled upwards from the floor and another from a high position angled downwards to try and bring light in from every direction that my knife might end up in.

also, congrats on the vegas 9....learn to use it and you will be making some sick ass vids....the cloning and time freeze effect on vegas can produce some sick effects if you get creative with it.

Re: Hellbent Tutorial

Vincent, are those features/effects available in the basic version of Vegas? I'm probably
gonna end up getting the basic version, it's only 50-80 bucks.

Re: Hellbent Tutorial

knife...not sure, i know 7 and 8 had them, so i'm assuming that 9 would have it and be a step forward.....unlike imovie, where 6 is a far better product than 8 and 9.
with 2 good flippers, cja and zoid having vegas 9...i'm looking forward to seeing some sick flipping with great editing.
i heard vegas 9 was pretty user friendly and easy to work with and only seems impossible for the first day or so.
check out the yt tutorials on using it.

Re: Hellbent Tutorial

Awesome job man. Ive got alot of work to do on my skills before i even start thinking about making tuts. Now that ive got my rollovers and the behind the eight ball (which looks like behind the eight ball is just a helix minus the initial y2k, correct me if im wrong). Ill be working on this trick next.

because you asked for it :D
helix - the initial roll is the eightball.
helix are three roll, behind the eightball are three rolls.
helix never makes you do a bite handle roll(with theblade facing one of your fingers).
