Pivots are the connectors which hold the handles to the blade's tang, allowing them to rotate.

Typically, pivots come in one of two varieties: Pins or Chicago screws.

Pivots pins are simply metal rods which are peened on both ends, forming caps which keep them from slipping out of their holes.

Chicago screws are metal tubes with a cap on one end and a screw going into the other. The cap and the screw keep the tube from slipping out of its hole.
